When we think about boiler upgrades, we often associate it with an unfortunate situation where it gave up during the winter, and we had to call out an emergency engineer.
However, it can be advantageous to consider upgrading your boiler even in spring. Here is why the warmer months are better suited for your boiler installation.
- It will cause less disruption in the warmer months
Being without a boiler for any period of time can be a bit of a hassle, but even more so when it is freezing outside. If you have to get your boiler replaced during the cooler months, you might be without heating for between 1 to 3 days, and this could be even longer depending on how extensive the project is.
Instead of having to go without a boiler for days during winter, which not only will make your life difficult but may result in your pipes freezing over, it is much easier for everyone to upgrade your boiler when it is warmer.
- You have time to make an informed decision
When your boiler breaks and it is cold, you are obviously going to be in a rush to find a replacement. However, by upgrading your boiler in the warmer months, you are able to do things at a more leisurely pace as it is on your own terms.
This means that you will be able to fully research which boiler might be right for you, and which company you want to work with. By doing so, you will be able to make an informed decision which will most likely save you money.
- Heating engineers might be less busy
Heating and boiler engineers see their peak in business over the winter, as cold weather causes a large number of emergency call outs over boiler breakdowns, repairs and frozen pipes. This might mean you cannot get an appointment, or the time might not suit you.
Instead, take advantage of the fact that engineers will be quieter over the warmer months. You will be more likely to get an appointment at a time which suits your hectic schedule and day-to-day life.
- Less energy wasted
There are many things that we can do to improve our home’s energy efficiency, as this can save us money on our energy bills. A heating system which is on its last legs and not running efficiently will waste energy, and therefore money.
By upgrading in the spring or summer, you will not have to dread those high winter energy bills. This is because newer boilers can save you as much as £340 a year on your gas bill.
- Run less risk of a breakdown in the future
Don’t wait until your boiler is broken to replace it. This could result in an expensive emergency call out in the middle of winter. Instead, upgrade your heating system during spring or summer to reduce your risk of an unfortunate breakdown.
